01 ── The Project
From research to communication
SmarterEPC is an EU LIFE project focused on transforming Energy Performance Certificates into dynamic, data-driven tools that support smarter, more sustainable buildings across Europe.
Working within an international consortium of research organisations, technology providers, and public stakeholders, I supported the project’s communication and dissemination activities by translating highly technical content into clear, engaging, and accessible materials for diverse audiences.
My work spanned different communication formats and touchpoints, helping maintain a clear and consistent visual presence throughout the project.

Technical understanding, editorial structure and visual execution
My contribution sat between engineering content and communication design: structuring information, identifying what mattered to each audience, and turning partner input into polished project-facing assets.

03 ── Communication System
A consistent project language
The existing SmarterEPC identity became the starting point. I extended it across layouts, typography, iconography, diagrams and communication assets so the project could feel recognisable across different channels without redesigning its established logo.
04 ── Brochure
Technical content, edited for clarity
The brochure translated project objectives, methodology and expected impact into a compact visual narrative. The focus was on hierarchy: keeping the science and technical meaning intact while making the material easier to scan for events, partners and non-specialist stakeholders.
From Design to Dissemination
The first version of the SmarterEPC brochure was introduced as part of the project’s communication activities and shared with the wider community through LinkedIn. The post offered an early look at the brochure in its final printed form, bringing the design from the screen into a real-world project setting.
As seen here, the brochure became a tangible extension of the project’s visual identity and a practical communication tool for presenting SmarterEPC to its audiences.

05 ── Event Communication
Designed to work beyond the screen
Roll-ups, presentation templates and event-facing materials carried the Smarter EPC visual language into consortium meetings, workshops and dissemination activities. Seeing these assets used in real project settings demonstrates how the communication system extended beyond individual deliverables into the project’s day-to-day communication.

06 ── Digital Concept
A clearer way to navigate the project
I also developed a website concept for SmarterEPC, exploring how the project’s technical content and visual identity could translate into a more structured digital experience.
The concept focused on simplifying navigation, strengthening the presentation of project activities and results, and creating a consistent visual connection between the website and SmarterEPC’s wider communication materials.
The concept was not implemented as the official project website, but demonstrates the information architecture and visual direction I developed.
07 ── Technical Visualization
Making complex processes easier to grasp
Working from technical input provided by researchers and project partners, I structured complex information into diagrams, infographics, icons, and visual summaries designed to improve comprehension without oversimplifying the underlying technical content.
08 ── Audiovisual
Communication in motion
The promotional video extended the same communication approach into an audiovisual format, combining technical accuracy, narrative structure and visual pacing to introduce the project in a more accessible way.
09 ── Extended Scope
Beyond the selected work
This case study represents a curated selection of a much broader communication and dissemination scope developed throughout SmarterEPC.
Beyond the featured materials, my contribution included reusable document and presentation templates, technical publications, project documentation, infographics and recurring consortium-facing communication assets.
This also included approximately 40 designed pages across four country-focused technical publications, combining technical content, editorial structure and project-specific visualisation within a consistent dissemination format.
Some materials are not reproduced here due to their internal, unpublished or project-specific nature.
10 ── Outcome
One project. Multiple touchpoints. One coherent story
The work extended beyond individual graphics or deliverables. The objective was to establish a coherent communication system that could support SmarterEPC across different formats, audiences, and stages of the project.
From visual-system applications and technical diagrams to brochures, templates, social media, event materials, and digital concepts, each asset was developed as part of the same visual language — helping technical information remain recognisable, accessible, and consistent across channels.
